Dr. Mark Sherman has owned a home in the Spruce Creek Fly-In at Port Orange, Florida for over 10 years, and moved here permanently in 2018 following his retirement from active practice as a General and Vascular Surgeon in New Jersey and New York. He is a graduate of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and completed his postgraduate surgical training and vascular fellowship at New York Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. He is a Fellow Member of the American College of Surgeons.
He is an avid Private Pilot, and enjoys flying his Beechcraft Bonanza. He recently earned his Rotorcraft rating, and is often seen in the local area flying a Robinson R-22. He has both his Single and Multiengine ratings, as well as Instrument Airplane.
Carolan has been a scrub tech, Registered Nurse and subsequently earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and her Masters in Forensic Nursing. She retired from the faculty at Bergen Community College where she served as Chairman of Surgical Technology.
She was employed by the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey and became the office manager for Dr Sherman’s practice of general and vascular surgery and his private scrub nurse.
She has been employed in Dr. Sherman’s FAA Aviation Medicine practice for two decades, and is highly experienced in helping airmen with certification issues.
Additionally, she is an author of a best selling study guide and resource in surgical technology.
